The beer cup pyramid...the tradition continues?

Remember the beer cup pyramid at St Johns Parish festival in West Chester?  I do. It has become a tradition to see how high they can build the pyramid using empty beer cups.

Who empties them? Everyone involved and it has become quite an attraction through the years. So you don't want to miss out this year. Maybe you can join in and help break the record this Saturday night August 2, 2008.

If you come to St. Johns Festival this Saturday you will not miss the Rock-N-Soul, Rythem-N-Roll Horn driven sounds of your favorite Classic Rock group BlueStone Ivory. We will be playing all your favorite dance songs beginning at 7:30 PM and playing till you drop or 11:30 PM whichever comes first. St. Johns is located at Cincinnati-Dayton Rd and West Chester Rd in the heart of Old West Chester.

This is our 5th time to play this fantastic festival. Chris Kastrup says...Come out and buy some beer. Again she is the Beer Booth chairperson. So stop by and say hi. Here is a photo of Chris pouring some beer...way to go Chris!

This little girl is so darling with her BSI American Flag. I couldn't pass up posting her photo. This picture says it all. Lets say a prayer for our troops and hope they all come home to us safe and sound.

We will be dedicating a special song God Bless the USA to all of our veterans, past and present. And to all of our fighting men and women overseas today. Lets pray for their safe return.

Gary Puckett opens for BlueStone Ivory at Jim & Jack's

Many of you were with us this weekend...so you know how much fun we had. Do you know how much work goes into a gig like doing the Gary Puckett show?

First we had to convince Ennie Jim the club owner that this would work. Gary Puckett is Ennie's all time favorite entertainer and this was a dream come true for him. However he had to put up the money $$$ and we would like to thank him for that. Next was taking care of Gary Puckett and the band as well as if not better than they would get on a regular concert tour. They rarely play night clubs and that was a hurdle. Lee Heftel our bass player and a long time friend of Gary Puckett personally took care of Gary and his small but mighty group, Woody (bass player), Billy (drummer), Mariano (keyboards) and of course Gary. If it wasn't for Lee this concert would not have materialized. As it turned out Lee who toured with The Gary Puckett show a couple of years ago got to sit in and play a song with the Gary Puckett show Saturday night.  

                                                                          The concert went off without a hitch. However there was a tremendous amount of planning and preparation involved. CODA (Cincinnati Oldies and DooWop Association) hosted Gary Puckett and his show. WDJO 1160AM radio the original oldies radio station in town took care of all the publicity.

BlueStone Ivory had a large hand in pulling this concert off in high class, style and grace. Thanks to Dave Kastrup and Jim Kastrup for their preparation and tenacity through the 3 hour sound check. Gary and his group was absolutely blown away at the preparedness and professionalism portrayed by the Kastrup brothers. Most people have no idea of the time these two gentlemen put into prior to setting foot in the club on Saturday afternoon.

We must also thank Mark Walker for lighting the stage at the appropriate times. Doug Schick for handling the spot light. These two also had to work double time to clear the stage and get BSI set up in record breaking time to start playing dance music for the concert attendees at Jim & Jack's.

                                                                                                                                                                                                     The Gary Puckett concert was played through the BlueStone Ivory sound and lighting systems. We had to bring in a lot of extra gear to comply with the Gary Puckett show requirements. We needed extra monitors, and house speakers to accommodate that size crowd.

A BIG thanks goes to Ted Donohoue for the use of his two guitar amps that Gary Puckett played through. Keith Clifford for letting Billy play his drum kit. And Rick Schmidt for letting Mariano play his electric piano. And Jim Kastrup for the use of his keyboard.

As I said it was a full joint effort on behalf of everyone involved. I would also like to thank Rusty Bird and Amy Schmidt for taking these photos during the concert.

BlueStone Ivory has really done a lot this year. We are so grateful to you our fans for all your support. So Thank you for being there for us. If it wasn't for you ...all these shows, concerts, rehearsals wouldn't mean a thing. You are why we do all this.

BSI had a great weekend

We had a record breaking crowd at Coney Islands Moolight Gardens "Garden Party" with JD Hughes last Friday night. The crowd topped 1200 in attendance and the dance floor was crowded all night long.

BlueStone Ivory played all your favorite songs that night.

On Saturday night in West Chester at Keehner Park we played to a capacity crowd. The weather was great both nights and we all had a great time.

Ted had some help from a young fan Jackson who helped Ted on "25 or 6 to 4". One of these days Jackson will be able to play a real guitar and he and Ted will play a duet together.

This Friday and Saturday night BlueStone Ivory will be at Jim & Jack's 3456 River Road in Riverside. We will be playing from 9:00 PM till 1:00 AM Friday night.

Saturday we will be playing right after the Gary Puckett concert that begins at 9:00 PM. Gary Puckett will perform for about 90 min. Then we will take a short intermission to move equipment around and BSI will take the stage around 11:00 PM to play all your favorite dance music untill 1:00 AM.

There are a few tickets left for the Gary Puckett concert.

Remember...tonight is the big night at Coney Island's Moonlight Gardens. We really look forward to this gig. It is one of our most favorite gigs to play each year. Why??? Because we get to share the stage and evening with Mr JD Hughes of WGRR 103.5 FM and WARM 98.5 FM Radio. JD will start playing your favorite tunes at 7:00 PM as the doors open. BSI will take the stage at 8:00 PM and you know what we will do!!! JD will spin more tunes on our next two breaks. Therefore you will be getting continuous music from 7:00 - 12:00 midnight. You can't beat that for $8.00 per person. We always have a great crowd that loves to dance the night away to the Rock-N-Soul, Rhythm-N-Roll horn driven sounds of BlueStone Ivory.

This Saturday night is another of our favorite places to play. This will be our 8th year back to Keehner Park in West Chester. We always have a great crowd. Families come with the kids and pets and picnic baskets and make an evening of it. West Chester Cable TV is always there to video tape the performance and they will play it back on the local West Chester cable channels over the following few weeks.

The 4th of July was a BLAST

The Blast of Brass was a huge success. Despite the threatening rain and early sprinkles...the Show must go on!                                                                                                                      

We all had a great time, BlueStone Ivory and Second Wind who participated in the Blast of Brass tour 2008 in Fairfield, Ohio last Thursday night. Despite the threatening rain of the forecast from the weather people it turned out to be a great day and night.

    

We would like to thank Bob Wilson for sitting in for Ted's vocals with us this weekend. He did an outstanding job for us on Friday night at Sharonville 4th of July Fireworks Festival. Bob used to play with BlueStone Ivory until Lee joined us 3 years ago. He is still in great voice. That was a real treat. Thanks again Bob.

This Friday night July 11 BlueStone Ivory will be playing at Coney Islands Garden party at the Moonlight Gardens with Mr JD Hughes from WGRR radio. The doors open at 7:00 PM. JD Hughes will play your favorite dance music. At 8:00 PM BlueStone Ivory will take the stage and begin to play.  The party will last till you drop or 12 Midnight, whichever comes first.

Saturday Night BlueStone Ivory will be in West Chester at Keehner Park in the amphitheater on Barrett Rd. for a concert that begins at 7:00 PM and ends at 9:00 PM. This will be our 8th year back to Keehner Park...WOW! We hope to have a record breaking crowd again this year.

Busy weekend for BlueStone Ivory

We are  less than 48 hours from the big show at Fairfields Village Green on Thursday July 3rd at 6:00 till 10:00 pm then the Rozzi's fireworks.

The members of BlueStone Ivory & Second Wind cordially invite you to join them for a unique and memorable local musical event. The two premier horn bands in the Greater Cincinnati area are joining forces as part of the city of Fairfield's Independence Day celebration. The bands will begin and end the evening's show onstage playing together, and each band will play an extended solo set of your favorite tunes. Stick around after the concert for Rozzi's fireworks display!

So bring your lawn chairs or blankets and plan on spending the evening July 3rd with The Blast of Brass.

Then on July 4th...Independance Day BlueStone Ivory will be in Sharonville for their Festival after the parade. The music starts at 6:00 pm in Gower Park right across the street from the Sharonville swimming pool at Creek Rd and Thornview Drive. We will play from 6:00 pm till 10:00 pm then the fabulous Rozzi's Fireworks at 10:00 pm

If you want another dose of BlueStone Ivory, Saturday July 5th you can come out to the Aurora Firecracker Festival in downtown Aurora Indiana in Lesko Park right on the Ohio River. The festivities begin at 8:00 PM and end at 11:30 pm with fireworks on the river at 10:00 pm. The festival has something for everyone in the family. So come out and join in on the fun Saturday night in Aurora Indiana.
