Guess who we are?...Thanks Dave Soete

It's fairly obvious who these guys are. This is called a caricature and was done by Dave Soete our Super Spot operator and crewman Doug's son-in-law.

The resemblance is remarkable for each of us. Dave really captured not only the look but I see it going deeper than that. He has our expressions nailed. Our expressions from our hearts are definitely showing through in these drawings.

The funny thing I noticed is that each of us can see the others much better than we can see ourselves. I think Dave captured everyone except for me to the "T". And everyone else thinks the same. We can each see each other but are hesitant to admit that Dave really captured "ME" with his pen and ink.

Great job Dave. And thank you for the hours of drawing this must have taken you. We will use these Caricatures as best we can and will always let everyone know...Drawing by Dave Soete.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO Lee

We would like to extend our warmest and best wishes to Lee our dear friend, BSI brother and bass player/singer and all around good guy. Not to mention a great father to Catie and husband to Becky who turned 40 something (he won't say what) last Friday September 12th.

As a special birthday present...Lee took a few of us, those that were available to Belterra for the Chicago concert. These were not just almost front row tickets, they included back stage passes that entitled us to meet and greet the entire band "Chicago".

Check out the picture with Birthday boy Lee, next to Don Hudson from "Second Wind" who tagged along, Jim Kastrup and Gary Rossignol.

We are all standing right in front of the group Chicago...Robert Lamm, Ray Hermann, James Pankow (with his hands on Lee's shoulders), Keith Howland, Bill Champlin, Tris Imboden, Jason Scheff and Lee Thornberg.

The concert was really great. One of the best performances I've seen and heard from our all time favorite rock-n-roll hero's Chicago. They did it all Friday night including an encore consisting of "Free" with the American Flag drop and topping that off with an extended version of "25 or 6 to 4". We all left satisfied.

Thanks Lee for inviting us to go with you on your birthday. It turned out to be a last minute ordeal and not all of us were available. Lee's uncle teaches Jason golf and has a close relationship with him and was able to score the tickets and passes. Y E S !

We do plan on something rather special for Lee and Mark to formally celebrate their birthdays at Jim & Jack's at the end of the month.

                                                                                                                               Until then...BlueStone Ivory has just booked a brand new gig. We will be playing in Aurora Indiana this Saturday night at the Bucher Farm Festival. Dwight Bucher is the owner of 300 acres overlooking the Ohio River atop a long hill in Aurora, Indiana. He throws a huge party every year to raise money for various charities of his choice. One is the local fire department and another he told me he donates to is the Cancer Society.

We start playing around 6:30 PM and will be sharing the stage in a huge pole barn with Rusty Bladen and his band. There will be awesome fireworks at around 9:00 PM. We will play 3 sets ending around 10:30 PM. Then Rusty will take it till about 12:30 AM.

There will be plenty of food and drinks all included for the suggested donation of $25.00 per person. It is only suggested as a donation...if you don't have money you will not be turned away.

They expect somewhere of around 3,000 guests at this party.

Proud parents soon to be....?

Rusty and Diana Bird are two very proud parents. They will be attending a very special reception this evening hosted by their son Greg's army post at a reception hall somewhere in the Sharonville area. The purpose is to say good-bye for a short while (50 weeks) to their troops including Greg who will be leaving tomorrow morning for Afghanistan.

Greg and his wife Lindsey live in Louisville Kentucky and have just told Rusty and Diana the great news...They are going to be grandparents. That's right Lindsey is pregnant and due in April 18th 2009. Greg may not be home at that time unless the army gives him a special leave to come home for the birth of his first child.

Let's hope and pray that the army gives Greg a week or so to come home for that. In the mean time Rusty and Diana are on cloud nine. Rusty says "I'm ready to be a grandpa...I can't wait".

Greg has been following BlueStone Ivory for many years. He and Lindsey always enjoy coming out to hear his dad play, especially during the summer...they like to come to the outdoor concerts and church festivals.

Here is what we need from everyone. Take a moment today and say a prayer... God, watch over Greg to have a safe trip and journey in "Your Speed" to come home to his loving wife Lindsey, his new baby, his loving mom and dad Diana & Rusty, his two sisters Laura and Kristine. Please God watch over Greg and grant our prayers. Amen

Happy Birthday to Mark

We would like to extend the warmest and best Happy Birthday wishes we can to Mark Walker our ace lighting technician. His birthday was last Friday September 5th. He is the youngest member of BSI. Just in his mid twenties...some of us have kids older than that. But that doesn't matter. He fits right in with us more mature gentlemen better than you would expect.

Mark will be in Pennsylvania this weekend with the rest of his family visiting a very sick aunt. Let's keep Marks aunt in our prayers. Mark will not be with us Saturday night. We will plan something special for the end of September when we are back at Jim & Jack's.

This Saturday night BlueStone Ivory will be performing live in downtown Dayton Kentucky. We will be at St Bernard Church auditorium at 401 Berry St. (You can get directions from our website) We will be playing for the Promises Club Fall Ball. The Promises Club is one of the largest 12 step recovery organizations in the Northern Kentucky area. They will have a speaker (lead) meeting from 8:00 PM till 9:15 PM. Then BSI will kick off the dance beginning at 9:30 PM and will play till 12:30 PM. The dance is open to the public and the attire is casual to dressy...anything goes within reason.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling Paul Schickler at 859-803-8008. Tickets will aslo be available at the door. They are $12.00 per person. That includes snacks, coffee and the best entertainment in town. Soft drinks are for a minimal charge. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.

There will be another familiar face sitting in with BSI Saturday night. Pictured to your left with his youngest son is Chris Rotsching (band director for Indian Hill HS) and a dear friend of Gary's will play in Rusty's stead. Rusty's son Greg is preparing to ship off to Afghanistan soon and the whole family is having a special get-together Saturday.

Rusty needs to be with his family and BSI needs to play...the show must go on. So let's make Chris feel right at home. He will have some big shoes to fill Saturday night...but he will do just fine. He is a very good musician. My question and yours may be ...Who will sing Slammin? It's on the list to play Saturday night. You'll have to come and find out.

We all must keep Greg, Rusty, Diana and the whole Bird family in our prayers for Greg's safe return home as soon as possible. Godspeed Greg! And bless you for your unselfish service in our armed forces to protect our freedom. We all love you.

BSI Fan of the Month

It's that time of month again. Where has August gone?  Each month we plan on featuring one (or two) of our special friends as Fan(s) of the Month. We will, with their permission of course, tell you a little about them and why they were picked fan of the month.

 

For the month of August 2008 we chose Judy and Jerry. 

BSI has grown to know Judy and Jerry quite a bit from their regular appearances and unique dancing style. In fact we have nicknamed Jerry "Shoes" because he always brings his special Black & White dancing shoes with him to the clubs in a special bag.

As you can see in the photo's they can really kick'm high...so if you are sharing the dance floor with these high kickers you better watch your back...Just kidding!

Judy and Jerry are both native Cincinnatians. Jerry is a nurse and lives in Hyde Park. Judy is a child care provider for a local TV personality and resides in Madison Place.

They met in 1999 at a dance club called Auto's in Sharonville. Dancing brought them together and dancing is what keeps them together and they love coming out to hear and of course dance to BlueStone Ivory.

Dancing isn't all they are made of...Jerry has two children and 3 grandchildren and his hobby is old cars. Judy has 3 children and 5 grandchildren and her pastime is power walking for exercise. As if all that dancing isn't enough exercise.

They both admit that from the years of associating with BlueStone Ivory they have made many new friends and they cherish them all. Between jobs, friends, and families they both stay very busy. They said "We are very blessed to have all of this and each other."

Judy & Jerry were at Jim & Jack's this past weekend. We had a great crowd that stayed late both nights. For a Labor Day weekend that was outstanding and I know Ennie Jim really loves that.

Speaking of Ennie Jim at Jim & Jack's...they have a brand new kitchen so they will be able to serve you even better, if that is possible, than ever before.
