You liked it, we liked it, we are going back

BlueStone Ivory was a hit at Carlo & Johnny on January 31st. So well in fact that we will be returning five maybe six more times in 2009. We need to thank all of you who came out in support that night. BSI had fun and we know you did too.

Valentines Dance last Saturday was a huge success. 219 people came to our first ever dance at Shimmers Ballroom with JD Hughes. This is telling us we need to do this a few times each year, therefor we are planning a Halloween dance at Shimmers.  

 

Saturday we had Charlotte on stage with us again to sing a duet with Rick..."Unchain My Heart". What a dynamic duo. The next photo is JD Hughes playing tunes on our breaks and handing out door prizes. We had several that won everything from portable DVD players, BSI Tee shirts and CD's and gift certificates to Shimmers Tavern. Everyone left happy Saturday night.

We need to thank Tracy Hughes,Amy Schmidt and Carol Beeson for welcoming the guests and collecting money at the door. A real special thank you goes to Mary Jo Rossignol who single handed prepared the door prize tickets and box, provided the table decorations, organized the guest check-in system, worked the door and took all the photos. A project like this is a real team effort. Thanks to everyone who participated.

We also celebrated two very special birthdays! 

Dave (Mongo) the best sound engineer in the world had his birthday on Wednesday Feb 11 and Doug (The Dominator) was Monday Feb 16. We celebrated them both Saturday with the traditional BSI birthday cake.

This weekend BlueStone Ivory will be at Jim & Jack's. This is one of our favorite places to play. It is a FUN club where the food is great, the service is superb and the music is:

A few weeks ago we played for a surprise birthday party. Jim M. turned 60 years old and his whole family, headed up by his wife Marilyn, threw an absolute great party. There were about 90 close friends and family that attended and had a great time.

Jim was a great sport about the whole thing. Turns out BSI is his favorite band and Jim sings also...You know what we did. We had Jim up on stage and sang his signature song "Mustang Sally".

Reservations are not necessary. No one will be turned away. Admission is only $8.00 and we are planning a fun filled evening with non stop music from 8:00 - Midnight. We will have a split-the-pot raffle. Proceeds will be donated to the Heart Fund. There will be other door prizes and fun give-aways. Modest drink prices and snacks.

If you want to make it a complete evening, come early and have dinner in Shimmers Tavern before the dancing begins. They have a full service menu and I am told the food is great! Reservations are not necessary.

Carlo & Johnny was awesome.

 BlueStone Ivory and everyone in attendance had a real blast Saturday night at Carlo & Johnny. I am working with the management for our return to the stage in Montgomery.

We had a visit from our dear friend Bobby Myers. Bobby, for those of you who don't remember him, is responsible for bringing BlueStone Ivory back together after 23 years apart.

He organized the Moeller High School class of 1969 30 year reunion back in 1999 that included bringing almost all the original members of BSI together. For about nine months prior to the reunion we gathered together to rehearse each week on Sunday mornings at an old warehouse near Lunken Airport. After the reunion Bobby was one of the few that agreed to continue to play with the band. Although Bobby is not an original member of the early BlueStone Ivory, he played an important role in keeping the BSI momentum going that brought us to what we have today. Thanks Bobby.

This is a photo of Bobby and his son Bo who are moving to Seattle Washington in the next couple of weeks. Bobby stopped in to sing and play the drums with BSI for one last time before he took off. You were in great voice and rhythm. Good Luck Bobby! Cincinnati and BSI will miss you.  

Bobby's friend Charlotte sang with BSI Saturday night also...WOW what a voice. She really belted out "Unchain MY Heart". Stop in anytime Charlotte. You can sit in again. We really liked the diversion.

Besides all the guest artists Saturday night we had a few other special moments.

Carol Schilling one of our more loyal fans celebrated her birthday Saturday. Actually her birthday was Friday January 30th...but we all ccelebrated it with her Saturday night. Happy Birthday Carol.

I was told Saturday night was one of Carlo & Johnny's largest crowds. We were impressed at how many people they could fit into this little club. It was definitely a night to remember and also to try and duplicate. So watch our schedule for our return to Carlo & Johnny.

The next and very important gig on our schedule is our Valentines Day Dance. It will be held on Valentines Day evening February 14th at Shimmers Ballroom 1939 Dixie Highway in Ft Wright KY. The dance begins at 8:00 and will end around Midnight. Depending on how much fun everyone is having. Cover charge is only $8.00 each. If you are interested in eating dinner... Shimmers Tavern will accommodate you with their full menu of dinner or just appetizers. Reservations are not necessary.
