Last weekend, specifically Friday night April 24th BSI held our annual dance at the VFW hall in Sharonville. BSI plays this gig each year in exchange for all the rehearsal time the VFW hall provides for us. We really appreciate this arrangement. Before the VFW hall we used to rehearse in a warehouse near Lunken airport. No heat or cooling, no running water and no indoor bathrooms. But the price was right. We played a backyard party once a year for the owner of the space. We have really grown to appreciate the VFW hall.
If you are ever planning a party, wedding or other medium size event. Call Gary at BSI 513.777.2402 and he will put you in touch with the manager at the VFW hall. It is a great facility with good service at the right price.
We celebrated a special birthday that night. Chris Kastrup our sound engineers wife turned #@*& on April 22 and we celebrated it at the VFW dance.
Here is Chris and her hubby Dave doing the celebratory dance together. They are a great looking couple...don't you think? I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chris for all the extra stuff she does for BSI throughout the year. We had another guest with us that night. We really enjoy any chance to do a gig with Mr DJ, JD Hughes from WGRR & WARM 98 and he loves to work with BSI. We met JD Hughes the first time we played at Coney Island and instantly became great friends. Here is a photo of JD and his lovely wive Tracy.
We had a great turnout that night. Everyone stayed till the end and enjoyed every minute.
Again, a big Thank you to Sherry Franks and the VFW hall for their generosity throughout the year. BSI wouldn't be able to learn all the new material without a decent place to rehearse.
BlueStone Ivory is presently preparing for our next large endeavor. Blast of Brass 2009. The first one is right around the corner on July 3rd in Fairfield for their Red, White & Kaboom celebration. By popular demand BSI and Second Wind have decided to do more than just 4 songs together. In fact we are doing an entire set together this year and you will have two opportunities to join us for these special shows. The second Blast of Brass show will be at the Sharonville Charity Festival (formerly the Fireman's festival) to be held on Friday July 24th in Gower Park corner of Creek Rd and Thornview Drive.
Our very next performance will be May 15 & 16 at Jim & Jack's and the following Friday night May 22nd at The Redmoor (formerly Jaspers) in Mt Lookout. Then we will be back to Carlo & Johnny on May 30th.
That will just about rap up our club dates till after the summer. June 6th will be our first outdoor concert at Keehner Park in West Chester. The next night we open the Mason Sunshine Concert series and the following Sunday we are at Sycamore Twp for their concert series.
Don't forget this Sunday May 10 is Mothers Day. A great gift suggestion...Call Lutz Flowers 921-0561. They will deliver anything from a dozen roses to a special design planter made to order with your mom in mind. Or have them send your mom a bouquet made up of BlueStone Ivory carnations. They can do it all and they do it all for BSI. The provide all the carnations at all of our gigs. Be sure and tell them you are a friend of BlueStone Ivory. They may do something special for you.
