Everywhere BlueStone Ivory performs Lutz Flowers are there. They have become a part of the BSI family. We can't perform without playing our version of Mustang Sally and Ted says "This song is brought to you by Lutz Flowers and Ladies you are going to find out why. So, Join our horn players on the dance floor".
Sometimes he kids around and says something like. "Our horn players are showing you there best side". That is of course because we always start out on the dance floor facing the band with our backs to the audience and blue & white carnations in hand or the bell of our horn.
I was thinking back, trying to remember how we started this tradition of handing out flowers during Mustang Sally. It dates back when Bobby Myers was playing with the band. Bobby's sister Jayne owned a flower shop in Newtown called Eclectic Garden. Bobby brought flowers from his sisters shop once and we handed them out. It was so well received we did it again and again. Soon we were buying them each week and having to go and pick them up. The problem was, no one lived anywhere near Newtown. That got old and very expensive.
Then I approached Lutz Flowers because they were right down the street from where I lived. They worked a deal with me. They would provide the carnations at half price in exchange for advertising. That worked for awhile. Then one day the West Chester store was closed. I began to panic until I met the new owner of Lutz Flowers, Carol Wainscott from Western Hills.
Carol came out to hear the band and saw the huge reception we got from the flower bit during Mustang Sally. She immediately fell in love with BSI and told me to count her in. She wasn't going to charge us at all. In fact they deliver them to my door in West Chester. NO CHARGE! When we play at Jim & Jack's they are always waiting for us on the stage upon our arrival. The folks at Lutz Flowers are true BlueStone Ivory fans. That is why we always display the Lutz Flowers sign they provided. We even have a special carrying case to keep it safe and clean during transporting on our truck.
Saturday October 17 is Sweetest Day. I encourage you to call Lutz Flowers 513-921-0561 and have them deliver something very special to your Sweetheart on Sweetest Day.
Be sure and tell them you are Friends of BlueStone Ivory. They always have a deal or something special for you if you say that. Please don't buy your flowers anywhere else. There isn't a nicer bunch of people at a better flower shop anywhere in the tri-state area Than at Lutz Flowers.
Of course plan on coming to Jim & Jack's this Friday and/or Saturday night and party with BlueStone Ivory. We will have special carnations for the ladies in honor of Sweetest Day this weekend. Come early and enjoy a delicious dinner. The food is excellent.
Those who haven't noticed, our web site has a whole new look. Ted did an entire overhaul and it really looks good.
In particular there is a special news section under the BSI Stuff tab everyone should go and check out. There is a special letter to all of our fans from Lee our bass player.
