In 2007 BlueStone Ivory made 3 appearances on the Gary Burbank show. All three were very memorable events for us. Here are some highlights of those three appearances.
These are a few of the many photos taken on July 3rd 2009 the day of performance. I call these "Out Takes" setup and non performing, candid photos. I hope you enjoy these.
We will be rescheduling the Princeton High School concert for another date TBD soon. The weather got the best of us this weekend. We certainly didn't want to play to an empty theater and no one would expect you to come out into this bad weather for a show.
Belated birthdays are fun...at least I think they are. I'm proud of my age. My kids think I'm getting old but I still play Rock-n-Roll music and I don't let them forget that. So at 58 I'm doing really good.
Last Friday we publicly embarrassed Carol Schilling. She is one of our most loyal fans. It is a rare occasion that she miss one of our performances.
Her birthday was actually last Saturday January 30th but we weren't gong to see her then so we brought her on stage and announced it and gave her a special present from her favorite band.
And now here we are doing it again. We love you Carol. You keep coming back. In fact the funny thing is she was going to miss this concert. Her granddaughter was giving a very special recital and Carol needed to be there for that.
Next weekend we will be back at Jim & Jack's, one of our favorite places to play. So plan on coming there and having a nice dinner and then you can dance the night away to the Rock-n-Soul, Rhythm-n-Roll sounds of BlueStone Ivory.

Princeton High School Yearbook Club is proud to present - BlueStone Ivoryin concert, February 6, 2010 at 7:00 pm. This will take place at Princeton High School in Matthews Auditorium (11080 Chester Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45246). All proceeds will benefit the Princeton High School Yearbook Club and help reduce the cost of yearbooks to the students. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students.
Here is a few minutes of what you might hear at Princeton high School next Saturday. This is compiled from Keehner Park concert last summer.
Thanks to all of our fans that came out to Putter II last Friday night they were very happy with our performance and the healthy turnout. We are in negotiations on our next date to play at Putters II. We will let you know when that will be.

This video is amazing. First of all I wanted to feature our dear friend Tim O'Shea who had major cancer surgery last Monday morning, being given huge doses of Chemo and came out to see and hear his favorite band BlueStone Ivory. He had just enough strength to get on the dance floor during his favorite song "Standing on Shaky Ground" by Delbert McClinton. He really has the moves for just getting out of the hospital...doesn't he?
It will also show you a BSI performance from my perspective on stage. I stand to Rusty's left just behind Ted. I video'd this during our performance last Friday night. It looks and sounds a little different from here?
We plan to dedicate this song to you Tim every time we play it. Our thoughts and our prayers are for you to have a speedy recovery. We hope you will soon be able stop the Chemo and be able to taste food again. May God bless you till we see you again soon we hope.
This weekend we are playing a double header. It starts on Friday night at a new club for BlueStone Ivory. Putters 2 Putt in Maineville. We hope to make this a regular stop throughout the club season.
Saturday we are at Carlo & Johnny in Montgomery. Small club but they like us and we like them. It is a mutual labor of love for all of us. Visit www.BlueStoneIvory.comfor all the details.
Hopefully we will be releasing our entire Summer schedule in a few weeks. I can give you a few hints of where we will be: June 6th a brand new festival for BSI, All Saints in Kenwood. Right next door to where BlueStone Ivory was born at Moeller HS. June 12 we are at St Maximilian in Liberty Township. June 24 we will be in Lawrenceburg for the their Music on the River concert series. July 9th at our favorite summer place Coney Island with JD Hughes and Sunday June 11 at the Mason Sunshine concert Series. Just to name a few. So stay tuned for more summer concert and festival updates.
We hope you all enjoy the BSI blog. We try to put an interesting point of view on our performance and the personalities of the members of BlueStone Ivory and our fans. If you have any suggestions...feel free to leave a comment by clicking on the comment button below.

Off and on for the next couple of weeks I will provide some photos or video of some cherished moments of BlueStone Ivory for our fans. The following is a video Mary Jo took with my Panasonic DMC-ZS3 HD digital camera at Jim & Jack's on December 18, 2009. It features the legendary Mr Bob Wilson singing and playing one of my favorite Otis Redding songs "I've Been Lovin You Too Long".
The super good news is that Bob Wilson will be playing with us a couple times later in 2010. So for all you Bob Wilson fans...watch your email and our website for our Bob Wilson Alert.
Last Weekend we had a great time at Bar Seventy-One. In fact it was a capacity crowd. Too bad about the Bengals...but we definitely rocked the people till 1:30. Our good Friend Steve Scavo stopped in and sat in on the drums for Mustang Sally. Great job Steve.
Today is Karen's birthday...Happy Birthday Karen! She is always at our gigs. One of our many very loyal fans. This photo was taken last year of our birthday tribute for Karen.
If any one ever has a birthday or an anniversary and at one of our gigs be sure to come up and let us know. We would love to dedicate a song to you and publicly eembarrass you from the stage. Well not quite to this extent! But we promise to take care of your moment of fame with BlueStone Ivory.
We would like to send out a message to all of our friends to keep Tim O'Shea, another of our loyal fans in your prayers. He has been struggling with a bout of cancer this past year. He has been through Chemo and yesterday went through surgery to remove an infected lymph node in his liver. We were told the surgery was successful and he is back on Chemo. He is not out of the woods yet so all we can do is Pray for his speedy recovery. Prayer is powerful medicine. If anyone would like to get a message to Tim, just comment to this post and I will see that he gets it.
Be sure to come out to Jim & Jack's this Friday & Saturday nights. That is where you can dance the night away to the Rock-N-Soul, Rhythm-N-Roll sounds of BlueStone Ivory.

2010 looks like it will be a terrific year for BlueStone Ivory fans. We will be playing a bunch. Starting in January...every weekend, February...every weekend, March...every weekend and April...every weekend.
WOW! There is more opportunity to see and listen to BlueStone Ivory than ever before. You can go to our website www.BlueStoneIvory.comfor all the details.
New Years Eve was a real blast according to all that attended. I personally got to talk to many of the attendees and the consensus was two thumbs up all the way around.
Here is a photo of the festivities from December 31, 2009 just before the clock struck 12:00 and it turned into 2010. The dance floor was full all night long right up to 1:20 AM New Years day when we finally stopped playing.
The food was excellent, the service was superb and the guest's...well, they were great BSI fans. Each and every one.
As many know... New Years Eve is a special day for Ted our guitar player/vocalist. It's his birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY again to Ted.
New Years Eve turned out to be an exceptionally special day for another couple. Mark Walker and his girl friend Kerstin got engaged just before the festivities happened on the stage.
Here is a short video showing off her sparkly ring.
We would like to wish them well in the future. Mark is our third guy on the crew that we use exclusively when we play the larger venues that call for a three man crew. Off & on during the summer you will see Mark working to help set up and then responsible for our lighting during the show.
This weekend we are at Bar Seventy-One in Deerfield Township. We start playing at 9:30 and play till 1:30 AM. Bar Seventy-One will be open for the Bengals game and are running a few specials they would like you to know about. They will have Drink and Appetizer Specials all afternoon during the big game. So come early, enjoy a great dinner and then you can dance the night away to the Rock-N-Soul, Rhythm-N-Roll sounds of BlueStone Ivory.

Our spotlight will be on Doug Shicks family this week. Doug is one of worlds greatest crew persons a band could ask for. You will see Doug running spotlight for us. He and Dave Kastrup are responsible for how we sound and look. They show up first and unload the truck and set up the stage at every gig. We couldn't do this without them. THANKS GUYS!
First of all a Happy Birthday to Debbie, Doug's wife. She celebrated her birthday at Bar Seventy-One on December 5th. They had cake and we played one of her favorite songs "Locomotive Breath".
Next a BIG THANK YOU goes to Dave Soete, Doug's son-in-law. He is the artist that designed our Caricature.
With the most recent changes in BlueStone Ivory it was necessary for Dave to make a few updates. He added Mark on bass and shaved Gary's mustache to match his brand new hairless upper lip look.
This is really a fun photo. We have a blast using as often as we can. As a matter of fact, everyone attending the New Years Eve Event at the Marriott Hotel this year will be receiving our 2010 magnet calendar with this photo attached. You will be able to display it on your refrigerator and mark all the BSI gigs on your handy calendar.

Many of our fans know us from Jim & Jack's, Carlo & Johnny, Bar Seventy-One, Guys N Dolls and many others know us from the many church festivals and community concerts we play throughout the summer. Many know us from Coney Island (one of our favorite places to play).
Lots of folks don't know that we play wedding receptions and private parties for anniversaries, birthdays or company parties. In fact we love to tailor an evening with a theme. Something we get to prepare for and deliver a special performance.
Teresa & Byron Vance did a remarkable thing this year. A couple of months ago in front of the band stand in the middle of the dance floor Byron, with our microphone in hand, got down on one knee and re-proposed to Teresa.
Of course she said yes!
Their original wedding day was November 24, 1979.Almost 30 years later they retied the knot on November 21, 2009 and came to Jim & Jack's to celebrate with us. Congratulations Teresa & Byron. We were proud to play at your engagement party.

On October 30th BlueStone Ivory's debut at Guys n Doll's in Alexandria Kentucky was a huge success. We had no idea the response would be so overwhelming. We are very grateful to all of you for coming out and filling this club to capacity like the last time it was sold out...opening night.
The owner Steve Chuke was quick to book us in each of the first three months of 2010 only because we had no dates available left this year.
We plan on appearing with Mr JD Hughes at these gigs just like the 30th of October. So mark your calenders for January 29, February 19 and March 26. Lets sell the place out 3 more times and that will insure that we will make Guys n Doll's a regular monthly gig from now on.
This is what goes on during our breaks with JD Hughes at the helm. He really gets into it. I really love the hair do don't you? The club was without a doubt filled to capacity most of the night. Looks like mostly ladies like dancing to the Cupid Shuffle.
Out next gig is this Saturday night November 21 at Jim & Jack's on River Rd. We needed to pass on Fridays performance due to not having a bass player. Mark has a couple of remaining gigs to play with his former band "Uncle Roger" in Indianapolis. He will be with us Saturday night plus we will have a couple of other surprises for everyone. So come out Saturday and dance the night away to the horn driven sounds of BlueStone Ivory.

Lee called me tonight. He has his contract, plane tickets and is off to Florida and then the Princess Cruise lines for a four month stint at sea. He will surely be missed. However, life goes on as BlueStone Ivory turns a new page and welcomes our newest member. Mark Bertram.
Mark answered our ad looking for a bass playing vocalist in the City Beat magazine 7 weeks ago along with about 15 other inquiries. We whittled down the list to the top three and spent an evening to auditioned each of them. Mark really seemed to fit as a musician, vocalist and a really cool person. We feel that Mark will be making a great addition to the BSI family.
Of course there is a lot of rehearsing to do in preparation of our debut with Mark. That is why we have taken the next couple of weeks off. Marks vocal style is a bit different than Lee. There may be a few adjustments to be made. Nothing insurmountable though.
You will be able to hear and see the latest addition to BlueStone Ivory on Saturday November 21 at Jim & Jack's.
Mark is moving to Cincinnati from Indianapolis where he has called home for many years. His fiance Andi lives in Newport Ky and Mark had plans to move here to be with her. Mark still has a few gigs left with his band back home Cousin Rogerbut will be a full time BSI brother before New Years Eve.
Our Halloween party at Bar Seventy-One was a huge success. There were many fantastic costumes in attendance and of course BlueStone Ivory did there best to keep things going in the fun holiday spirit we do each year.
Friday night was our first time at Guys n Dolls and Mr JD Hughes was with us and again Saturday at Bar Seventy-One for the Halloween celebrations.
By the way Guys n Dolls was sold out thanks to you and we are scheduled back in January, February and March of 2010. Check our schedule on the website www.BlueStoneIvory.com for all the details.
The really big surprise was and check the photo and see what is missing. Gary shaved his mustache to play the authentic part of "Uncle Al". Wow! What dedication some one said. No, he is just a little nuts to shave that after having it for 38 years. Some folks say he looks younger. So at our age anything that helps is well worth it.
Keep checking our website. We will have our Halloween photos of all the characters soon.
If you haven't seen this video yet, it's a lot of fun. A little Farewell to Lee and also includes all the costume contest activity from the party at Bar Seventy-One.
Well, to wrap things up on this post I would like to invite you all to go to our website www.BlueStoneIvory.comand click on the Veterans Day display for a fantastic patriotic photo presentation our webmaster Ted has designed to honor all of our Veterans.

Happy birthday to Mark Walker our lighting tech and Lee Heftel our bass player. Mark's birthday was on September 5th and Lee celebrated his 50th birthday on Saturday September 12.
In the BlueStone Ivory tradition we really celebrate our birthdays in a large way. Well, a few of us have a lot of fun with them and the end result is usually a joint creative venture and a belly full of laughs from all members.
It starts by gathering funny ideas from the members. Then these ideas are discussed by Gary and Rusty. Finally Rusty will do his Photoshop magic and send it on to Gary for final proof and production of the birthday card with verse. We used to have these images put on a birthday cake. That got to be a little expensive and repetitive.
Everyone is in awe at some of the creative ideas that end up on our birthday cards. Most of them are classic. One of the funniest was two years ago Lee said and I quote "I don't want my face on no stinking birthday cake". Well, he got his wish. What usually happens Mark and Lee's birthdays are in the same week each year. So Rusty superimposed Marks head on Lees body and we did a joint birthday cake. Here is the end result of what went on that birthday cake.
You can just imagine some of the funny stuff we do for each other each year. By now everyone has caught on and it is almost expected. That makes the challenge much more difficult. What can we come up with next? We just don't seem to run out of ideas though. In fact for Rusty's birthday card this year Ted and Rick came up with the same idea without even communicating. That was more fun.
Well, enough of the silly stuff. You get the idea. BSI is more than just a Rock-n-Roll band. We are all brothers and care for each other and have a lot of fun together on and off the stage.
What is in store for BlueStone Ivory the next four weeks. Well you will get two opportunities to come out and see us play. The first will be at Carlo & Johnnythis Saturday night September 19th. Lee is in Connecticut and New York this week playing with the opening band for a Three Dog Night concert and visiting his Mother so Bob Wilson will be setting in for him. We really have fun when Bob gets to play with us. That is a real treat.
Our next gig two weeks later on October 3rd will be at the 34th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals. We start playing around 8:00 pm. After the Famous Bean and corn bread dinner is over. The Pumpkin Run is the single largest car show in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Last year they had over 2,800 cars in attendance. Watch this video for a sneak preview of what you will be missing if you don't venture out to the Clermont County Fairgrounds that weekend.
Soon afterit will be time to gear up for Halloween. We have some special surprises in store for you then so stay tuned.
Last but not least. Ted has been working very hard the past several weeks on overhauling our BlueStone Ivory website. When you check it out next time you will see an all new look. We all love the new look. Great job Ted. He is so talented in many other ways than playing guitar and singing. Ted has also added many new photos from our summer gigs. So be sure to check it out.
